With a growing understanding of the complex issues that surround unplanned pregnancies and the abortion issue in our own community, our vision is growing as well.
This year's R&D committee considered this woman's wide range of needs, which include adoption agencies, post-abortion counseling, maternity homes, STD and medical intervention, residential after-care, media outreach, continuing education and abstinence education as well as the invaluable hands-on mercy ministry extended by our local pregnancy centers.
Many pro-choice activists are highly critical of pro-life talk that "saves the baby" and yet does little to help the woman care for that child during her pregnancy or after delivery. It is essential that we are committed to recognizing and addressing that wide range of needs. In addition, through these grants, the Council is committed to introducing the community to the wide range of resources available in our city to women in crisis as they consider their options.
